The inspiration for “You Take My Breath Away” was a quiet morning lakeside in picturesque Algonquin Park. The water was still as glass and the only sounds that could be heard was the quiet lapping of the waves against the rocky shore and the calls of some loons in the distance. It’s in these moments that time stands still and life seems clear, if even just for this one moment.
This painting was painted on a cradled hardboard panel that was sealed first to prevent discolouration over time. Two coats of acrylic gesso were then applied before the oil paint. Once dry, a Gamvar satin varnish was applied to seal and protect the painting.
